THL Solder House runs a small editorial site about home projects and tools. This page is the short version of what happens to information when you browse or write to us.
What shows up in our inbox
If you email us, we receive whatever you put in the message — usually an address, a name if you sign it, and the content of the note. We use that to reply and, when relevant, to correct an article. We do not sell those messages.
What servers log by default
Like almost any site, hosting and related services may see technical details: IP address, browser, device type, referring URL, and rough traffic stats. We use that kind of data to keep pages up, catch abuse, and see which guides people actually finish.
Cookies
Some cookies (or similar storage) may be needed for basic site behavior or measurement. You can block or clear them in your browser; a few features might behave oddly afterward.
Other companies in the stack
Hosting, CDN, analytics, or email tools may process data so their service can run. They operate under their own terms. If a page uses an affiliate link, the merchant or network may set cookies after you click through; that is outside our direct control.
How long we keep things
Contact threads and logs stay around only as long as they are useful for support, security, or legal reasons, then we delete or scrub them when practical.
